Rangers Advance to Second Round of NHL Playoffs

New York defeats Washington 4-2 in Game 4

The New York Rangers have advanced to the second round of the NHL playoffs after finishing off a sweep of the Washington Capitals with a 4-2 win in Game 4 on Wednesday night.

The Rangers, who finished the regular season with the best record in the NHL, took a 3-0 lead in the series after winning the first three games in Washington. The Capitals fought back to win Game 4 in overtime, but the Rangers closed out the series with a victory in Game 5 at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers will now face the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the playoffs. The Penguins, who won the Stanley Cup in 2016, are the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
